Default Woman who carried gun to Soccer Game shot and killed...

Melanie Hain, who got her 15 minutes of face time for putting a loaded Glock on her hip at her daughter's soccer game, was shot and killed in an apparent murder suicide involving her husband... after she carried the gun to the soccer game, her concealed weapon permit was revoked, she then won that case and was now filing suit as she alleged that her civil rights were violated... the permit issue did little to protect her in her own home... often the greatest danger is the one sleeping next to you, particularly for women.

The saddest part of this story is that apparently the kids witnessed the whole thing... but they reported had some cereal in the AM and were handling it well.

Gun-toting soccer mom, husband shot dead | Philadelphia Inquirer | 10/08/2009

Quote:
LEBANON, Pa. - She became a symbol of the gun-rights movement, but Meleanie Hain's reason for wanting to openly carry her Glock 26 everywhere she went, including her 5-year-old daughter's soccer game, was personal.

Hain, 31, worried that something awful would happen, and she wanted to protect her three children and herself.

On Wednesday night, in her house on East Grant Street, something awful did happen. Hain and her husband, Scott, 33, were found shot to death in an apparent murder-suicide.

It'll be interesting to see who shot who and with whose gun, won't it?

I'm pretty sure everyone's assuming (and perhaps rightfully so since apparently the kids said so) that HE shot HER but it could be the other way around.

Sexual equality and all.

One does have to wonder, tho, if it was her infamous pistol which was used in the shooting regardless of who shot who or why.

Brings home the point that merely having a gun can be dangerous since it's entirely possible that it will end up being used against you.

What could have been a domestic issue involving some anger and some punching/biting/hitting/kicking can easily escalate into murder if there's a weapon handy. If not, than not.

I guess its safe to say that the yahoos who carried guns to Obama rallies a few months ago are facing, at least from a statistical standpoint, a not so rosy future.

I believe that domestic violence is a leading cause of death for younger women in the US... maybe women need to bring a gun to bed with them, rather than carry it on their hip...

As i was reading this i remembered thats its now legal in Arizona to carry in a bar.
Thats a real Bright idea, letting people bring loaded weapons to a place where they can get drunk and get into arguments.

People who carry guns are far likelier to get shot – and killed – than those who are unarmed, a study of shooting victims in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has found.

Yeah, so a person with a license to carry was killed by her spouse in her own home. This is certainly a reason to either ban the the right to carry, or for people to not have guns.

Think you missed the point.. she carries a gun to a soccer game, which was her right, yet gets shot by her husband in her own home.. no one is talking about banning guns.. it is about where women are in the most danger.

So what's that got to do with the price of banana's? I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that there has been an instance where a woman with a license to carry, was attacked by her husband/boyfriend/bootycall and shot him dead, before he could kill her. What's that prove in and of itself? That's right, not much.
