Dude, the rest of the world loves him because he's a ***** who can be walked over and pushed around. The United States is becoming a non issue everywhere as he goes around America hating.

the truth is that he does not deserve it

its got to be the first Nobel handed out for expectation, except that in the global issues obama has dealt with, he has been no more successful than any previous president

- israelis have laughed him off as another joke
- we are every bit into Iraq and Afghanistan (if not more so) than during the Bush administration

gotta laugh at all the clowns in the world for handing out prizes for what they want to see.....to hell with reality

Can you clarify and articulate for me what that vision is exactly? I asked that not rhetorically, but seriously because to me I don't see what that vision encompasses. On Afghanistan, we have a hesitating policy that is scarily reminiscent of Vietnam and on health care, the proposed reform was abdicated to Congress with no real stewardship from the White House. Do they want a public option or not? It seems to alternate on a daily basis.
With respect to the economy, there is talk of controlling spending at the same time the deficit is increasing wildly. So you don't think I am purely partisan, this is a complaint I have had under his predecessor as well, who oversaw massive increases in spending. Increasing taxes will do nothing if Congress views it simply as more money to spend.
I don't view myself as myopic. I just like to put things under a microscope and view them as they really are, like bills in Congress with all the pork slipped into them.

Those guys love the climate change stuff, this is probably a down payment on his climate change bill. Of course, if they try to pass that the Dems will probably lose Congress. Funnily, this "win" is about the only win on the horizon for the obamans. The healthcare crap is hollow and seen through as a joke, he can't win in Afghanistan (he either leaves or pisses off his base), the climate change bill is a non starter, I believe.

It's still "Change You Can Believe In"

Forget the tax increases on working families hidden in taxes those mean medical and insurance companies.

Forget the tax increases on working families that Cap & Tax will result in.

It's Change You Can Believe In. BELIEVE IT, DAMN IT.

I wonder how many right-wing heads will explode over this news. It should be very entertaining to see another round of right wing hysteria and Glen Beck tears.

At any rate, my feeling is that Obama has given a voice and hope to many people outside this country (as well as inside this country). Although progress is slow, it appears he's making some progress on many fronts, including with Russia, with China, with Iran, with the ME, and he has also given new hope to people in Africa. He has calmed relations with Chavez and Castro. He is not waving his sword, but working the channels to try to normalize and stabilize the world, and so far his results are promising.

At any rate, it's nice to see so highly regarded an organization as the Nobel Prize Committee give a giant f.u. to the American right wing.

This just proves what I have thought of the award for the last 15 years since Yassar Arafat won it...either a "feel good" winner or a bribe to slow down or stop killing innocents or a way of getting headlines for the other Nobel Prizes.

The Peace Prize was always awarded in Norway, the others prizes in Sweden.
