I'm trying to figure out What is different about our country from last year. Why We Went from being the seventh most admired country, all the Way up to first?

It's not like this is something new. The US has a long history of being the most admired country. Maybe not in the Bush II years, but this isn't new. It's not something Obama has done through policy because it changed so quickly.

The reason this happened is because American citizens voted for Obama...something much of the world (including US) thought would never happen.

That alone is why it changed so quickly. We showed once again why our system is so resilient. Give credit where it is due...give it to those who voted for Obama.

What happened AFTER 9/11 probably hurt world opinion of America. But EVERYONE I knew, democrat and republican alike wanted blood....I wanted blood for the World Trade Center atrocity. I wanted to see Osama Bin Laden cut into little pieces and fed to dogs...hell, I STILL want to see that!

You'll find you answer above. And although it is nice to be admired by the world, it would be foolish to make that an end-goal for policy. When we get right down to it, world admiration is not that important.

It's very similar to the individual that lives his/her life to be admired. It's not something to strive for as a country or as an individual. If you do the right thing and be true to yourself you'll be happy. If others don't admire you, that's their problem.

US domestic policy should NEVER consider world opinion. Our gov't should do what is right for our people. And if we're admired for that, so be it.
