Bill would probe fiscal legacy of slavery in Mass.
Will this lead to reparations?
Bill would probe fiscal legacy of slavery in Mass.

Associated Press Writer / October 5, 2009
BOSTON—Massachusetts, which boasts a history of abolitionism, is considering legislation to determine how much the state and local institutions profited from the African slave trade.
A bill before the legislature would require some of Massachusetts oldest banking, financial and insurance companies to look deep into their history -- and the histories of subsidiaries and predecessor companies -- to uncover links to the slave trade, as a condition of doing business with the state.

And why only the black slavery- what about the white slavery that was alive and well decades before and after African slavery in Massachusetts?

Massahusetts congress governing the Barney State. I am so sick and tired of this crap from these fawning dopes. How about spending more time helping local business compete globally. That would be well worth the investment of time and brain power. If we punished everyone who has a connection to slavery we would have to just print more money to pay it all. These dopes need to go by voting them all gone.

I'm prepared to drop this, considering the state of the economy, on the condition that the righties admit that their argument, that nobody who either benefited from or was hurt by slavery still exists, therefore reparations are dumb, was in fact typical Republican crap. Incorporated businesses are people of a sort in the eyes of the law and there's lots of them who sure as hell benefited from slavery still around.
There's no doubt in my mind that if John Hancok Insurance benefited from slavery they owe someone.

Brilliant, that's what we need, a class action lawsuit for people of color.... Let's just make it any color while we are at it. It's just that nonsensical.....

So which other clear, and unmistakable torts would you like to ban from the legal system? Tell you what, just put a copy of the Constitution up here with all the inconvenient clauses cut out.
