Default The first vaccine to prevent aids..

Before everyone gets their Depends in a bunch, it is a SF Gate newspaper with a widely distributed AP article.. good news that there may finally be an initial breakthrough in stopping this epidemic... if it is stopped, with the wrath of god rhetoric change???

A world first: Vaccine helps prevent HIV infection

Quote:
The vaccine cut the risk of becoming infected with HIV by more than 31 percent in the world's largest AIDS vaccine trial of more than 16,000 volunteers in Thailand, researchers announced Thursday in Bangkok.

Even though the benefit is modest, "it's the first evidence that we could have a safe and effective preventive vaccine," Col. Jerome Kim said in a telephone interview. He helped lead the study for the U.S. Army, which sponsored it with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseas

They will just change it to some other group...they need someone to scapegoat and threaten with eternal damnation to keep their power over the ignorant masses...

Any breakthrough in the fight against AIDS is a good thing for the whole planet.

If the vaccine works this will be the biggest milestone unseen in 54 years since Jonas Saulk's vaccine for polio was introduced.

I agree completely, in many countries it has ravaged the family and families...

As far as scapegoats go, there will always be one..

Africa's countries especially the poor sub-Saharan countries are where it has had the biggest continued impact: 11 countries with at least over 10% of the population infected and 31 of the top 32 countries by percentage worldwide are affected.

There will be further pontification of pious platitudes on how this will encourage promiscuous behavior on the part of gay folks.. .. do not worry about aids, instead of the value it will have in preventing this disease and all that goes with it.

Some crazy groups somehow think that getting a vaccine for a mostly sexually transmitted disease, somehow makes it okay or encourages risky behavior. The same thing is happening with the HPV vaccine.

Is this the normal evolution of Vaccinations? I always assumed a vaccine wasn't a vaccine until it worked much more effectively than 3 in 10.

Bush Haters never seem to mention how much "Bad America" did for Africa in helping them with the AIDS problem, not even this Poster Boy Jerk we have for a President today, his speech to the UN yesterday was disgusting, it's not hard to see why "dictators love him".

America during the Bush Years did more for "Africa AIDS" than any other country in the world.
