So I'm thinking ... why doesn't the party that's supposedly so racially sensitive have more blacks in the pipeline to become senators and governors. Perhaps if we put all 50 states senators and governors together for a group picture the thought behind this thread would make much more sense.
You can't go selling racial diversity if you're not going the extra yard to bring racial diversity. Why didn't they help Paterson out behind the scenes. make some appearances to shore up support for him. Get him some prime media time and sound bites. Nope ... they're getting rid of him. They're no better than the republicans on racial diversity. Fact is Bush had more color in his cabinet and his czars than Obama does.
So put away these racism stories ... enough of it. The democratic party does not walk the talk ... they talk the talk when it suits their purpose and that's the bottom line. Crickets chirping in this thread because the democrats here cannot defend their party ... can they?
Sheesh if only Paterson were Caroline or Joe Kennedy ... but he's not a good old boy is he?
Paterson wanted Gillenbrand and not Caroline ... shame on him for not yielding to the big "O".
Did Obama ask NJ Gov. Jon Corzine not to run also ... his polls numbers suck just about the same?

I understand your point, and the answer is simple. Like any self serving, self interested entity, the democratic party cares only about itself, and what's best for it. They're not for the advancement of women, or of minorities, as much as they are interested in the advancement of their women & their minorities, and only because it serves them (the democratic party) best. Here for example, they don't care about trying to help a sitting black governor, cuz doing so would likely mean a loss in the election, and thus lost influence & power. From a political standpoint, it makes perfect sense to do what they are doing, since the bottom line is what's best for the party, and nothing else. Some would even say that in doing this, they are treating a black candidate, no differently than they would a white. I think that would be a valid point. Again, cuz what's best for the party is what matters. This hold true for pubs, for corps, for unions, pro teams, etc.
