Joe Wilson, the latest demagogue of the right, and the brilliant statesman (according to Anne Coulter) authored a bill to allow an immigrant to become legal.. this one because he was a christian, it is truly a funny world...

Selective rage, or a tad Orwellian, "All immigrants are created equal, but some are more equal than others."

You do know that know that the government of Gambia, which btw is 90% Sunni, puts Christians in prison just for being Christians. I wonder what treatment Sainey Fatty would recieve being a converted Muslim who turned his back on the Koran.

Once again the end justifies the means.. sigh!!! How many Gambians are awaiting deportation or have been deported??, this is just another self serving bill, it is what it is, there is no difference.

It's bad for a government to imprison someoned for their faith. Gambia, run by a military dictatorship, is one of the world's worsh *****holes -period. No one should be expected to return there. There should be a complete amnesty for anyone lucky enough to escape there. Average age is just under 19. Life expectancy is 55. Risk of contracting a major disease is "very high".

There are unjust "prisons" and circumstances all over the world. Many of these conditions are worse than staying alive. What's Ole Joe's policy for them? Why does this guy deserve a waiver on the process over anyone else?

The difference here is that Sainey Fatty is a Christian and his cause is being taken up solely for that reason. Fatty has served on staff with HIS International (based in Columbia, SC) since 2003.

HIS, a non-denominational Christian organization whose purpose is to serve international students and their families. Together they become a community--with strong bonds of friendship and concern that continue long after the students leave the campus.

Probably not, but do not get on a podium and pontificate pious platitudes about illegal immigration, and call people liars in public.. review the standards for political asylum.. and if they need revising, revise them.

It is a tough line to draw, are emigrating Cubans entitled to compassion?? If you follow the rhetoric here they certainly are, as Castro is a very bad man.

The decision to file this bill seems to have been solely made on Fatty's christian beliefs.. if a non christian was in the same situation, would have been interesting to see the response of Joe...
