Default Massachusetts Healthcare - Costs Rising

So how's that healthcare reform going in Mass???

Mandated Health Insurance Squeezes Those in the Middle - WSJ.com

Quote:
Costs to expand insurance coverage in the state are growing rapidly because of higher-than-expected enrollment in free and state-subsidized plans, and rising health-care costs. Critics say the Obama plan could face similar problems, contending it doesn't do enough to control costs.
Quote:
In Massachusetts, rising health-care costs, already among the highest in the country, threaten the insurance mandate's long-term viability. The state's costs to expand coverage have swelled nearly 70% to an expected $1.75 billion in fiscal 2010 from a base of $1.04 billion in 2006 ...........

I would like a supporter of the Obama plan to explain why his proposal would be any better than Masscare (endorsed by Romney, thumbs down to him). The cost overruns are the same as ALL other entitlement programs. Note that cost im Mass are rising MORE than other places.

WHY WILL OBAMACAE BE ANY DIFFERENT??????????????

It's becoming politically incorrect to point out anything wrong with Obama's health care, in fact doing so is now considered Racist.

Quit being so negative Icy. You just don't care about people. Save the children!

The Mass plan, like the gubmit plan, is gimmick policy. They do nothing to reign in the cost of the actual care. Forget the cost of insurance, or the cost of coverage for a minute, and concentrate on the real problem, and that's the cost of the actual care. You know, how much the bill is when you go to the hospital. Costs are rising every year, and that is where attention needs to be focused. Here in Massachusetts, the Romney passed policy did nothing to thwart costs, which is why the program is going to fail miserably. Obamacare is no different. Of course, that's the goal of Obamacare anyway, so that a single payer system can be eventually forced in.

Funny how the libs avoid reality based threads like the plague. Where are those who thought this would be a great idea???

Does anyone remember the price freezes in the 70's?

The healthcare bill is a fraud ... my opinion remains unchanged.
Make a plan available to the uninsured
- a government plan that has fees based on income, or lack of it (free). let the system work the rest out.

Health Insurers Threaten Rate Hikes

Industry representatives put Congress and the Obama administration on notice that if health-reform legislation doesn’t send even more new customers the industry’s way or if a windfall profits tax is included, the industry would hit businesses, individuals and the government with higher premiums, effectively defeating one of the initiative’s top goals, reining in ever-rising costs.

People are retarded. It the cost stupid. The insurance company pays the hospital bill. With that in mind, who the one putting together the invoice? Hmmm... $300 for an aspirin.

Ummm ... no. The insurance industry has negotiated rates for everything. They may charge $300 for the aspirin but they don't get $300 for it ... those costs are all fixed. Hospitals make more money by having more items padding the bill but that is also harder now.
