Actually one of Obama central themes to ram this through is through the "competition" argument. Which is crap. If he wanted more competition as a way to keep costs down, he could deregulate the insurance industry so that consumers could shop across state lines for coverage.

That would not cost 1 cent and would have the net effect of driving cost down through the open "free market", by increasing everyone (in the country) options from the 2-3 choice we have today, to the 70-100 that would exist in this system.

But competition is not the goal here. It's just a red herring. The goal is for the government to take over 1/6 of the economy as a power grab. Plan and simple.

Real World

Single payer is absolutely the end game here, and anyone that can't see this bill as a bridge to get there, isn't paying attention.

Not only that but Obama is a liar. By our constitution illegal aliens will have insurance as they cannot be treated differently than any other class of people. Obama knows it and law people know it. More Obama talking jive he's just getting worse at it.

Sure, maybe in 100 years the people who replace us as citizens may consider it, but its laughable to think it'll happen anytime soon.

The real end game is no change at all. Now someone was kind enough to point out that Obama was a proponent of single payer during the campaign, what he proposed yesterday is far from that. That's clear and indisputable evidence of compromise. When does your side step up?

It wouldn't take long at all before the health care industry was in flames and the solution that would arise from that conflagration would be our very own National Institute of Health.
