Yeah you read it right they really did shot him, no disingenuousness in the title. And you think it bad around here, this town is a complete hell hole. I've never read anything this crazy before about a town.
Theres 144 people and 7 cops who do nothing but write speeding tickets. One guy got a ticket for going 58 mph in his driveway. The cops are like a mob shaking the citizens down, eventually the fire chief gets shot in court but no one knows which cop did it.
JERICHO, Ark. – It was just too much, having to return to court twice on the same day to contest yet another traffic ticket, and Fire Chief Don Payne didn't hesitate to tell the judge what he thought of the police and their speed traps.
The response from cops? They shot him. Right there in court.....

Re: Fire chief shot by cop in Ark. court over tickets
Something smells rotten there...The cops are clearly overdoing their boundaries, and when they were challenged by someone with power they took exception...the good news is that exception will result in scrutiny and oversight and pressure against the department hopefully ending their tyrany.
This case reminds me of a case involving the Mass State Police and a clerk at one of hte district courts on hte south shore...they had a secret deal with someone in the courts, the cops give more speeding tickets while the clerk gets more overtime thanks to the increased demand for hearings.

>>>With 174 residents, the city can keep seven police officers on its rolls but missed payments on police and fire department vehicles and saw its last business close its doors a few weeks ago.<<<<<<
They have to write tickets to keep up with payroll..........1 officer per 25 residents????

Check this out:
Quote:
City hall has been shuttered since the shooting, and any records of how the money was spent are apparently locked inside. No one answered when a reporter knocked on the door on Tuesday. Mayor Helen Adams declined to speak about the shooting when approached outside her home, saying she had just returned from a doctor's appointment and couldn't talk.
"We'll get with you after all this comes through," Adams said Tuesday before shutting the door.
A white Ford Crown Victoria sat in her driveway with "public property" license plates. A sales brochure advertising police equipment sat in the back seat of the car.
City Hall is conveniently closed so nobody can view the finances and expendatures...with a car sitting in the driveway of the mayor with incriminating things in plain view...
Rotten from the top down.
