Ah but isn't that in fact what Zelaya was trying to do? He was forcing his military to distribute material for a vote on re-election that the Honduran Supreme Court, Congress, Attorney General, and Electoral Tribunal all ruled illegal/unconstitutional. He was promising to fire generals that did not follow his order and promised promotions to lower ranked officers that would. At what point do his actions warrant his ouster? Also it was not a minority coup, as he was in fact replaced by another member of his own party (the VP) who promised to uphold the constitution and have elections this year. The categorization of this as just another latin american military coup is a complete mischaracterization, and to me the Obama administration's stubborn refusal to recognize this is a major mistake. At the very least I'd be OK with them saying they thought it was wrong and just letting it play out from there, why is there this need to get involved? Not a good decision IMO.
