Dude, I think prositution should be legal, so the fact that women choose (key word here) to sell their body for cash, is fine by me. One way or another, people pay for sex, so paying direct shouldn't be a problem. Not everyone holds the same set of ideals that you do. While I don't want to see people sell their bodies, they should be able to.
Agreed on everything except the last sentence. Have you ever been to the Red Light District in Amesterdam? Wow!! The girls in the windows there look like car magazine pinups.
If it's regulated (and by "regulated" I mean: condoms are a MUST, STD checks are daily - if not hourly, and no beastiality) then I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with legalized prostitution. For the record, I believe the same thing about marijuana.

I've been in construction all of my life in one for or another. Just on jobsites I've been on I think I've seen about five deaths and dozens of injuries that end a guy's career and probably shorten his life by a decade. Toxic fumes, backbreaking work, etc., are all part of the job. It's very dangerous and unhealthy work and I love it even though I might have already taken ten years off of my life. I do it voluntarily but now I am more careful and let the kids do the crazy stuff. The fact that it's legal doesn't change the risk.
I wonder if we should ban construction. Whaddaya think, Foggy?

They'd probably use the Personal Ads in the newspapers. Should we shut down all the newspapers in the U.S. because some hillbilly will use the personals to go and sell his/her body in exchange for sex?
Well, you notice that most broad-based newspapers refrain from taking offensive ads -- sexual, violent, or other illegal activities -- you don't see those things even in the Boston Globe, New York Times, or Washington Past (hold my noses three times), so publishers have absolute control and discretion to put anything they want into their publications, print or online. The jerks running craigslist CHOOSE to run sex ads because they want to make billions of dollars, period. That's their rationale.
If you spoke to them they'd probably give you an answer similar to what Real World said "personally I don't think people should sell their bodies, but if they want to then who am I to say 'no'?" That's pathetically lame. If you're against something because your conscience tells you it's no good, then follow your conscience! You'll be a much happier, far less conflicted person. And probably live a much longer, healthier life.
Peace.

Staying ahead of the curve with STD checks is impossible. HIV/AIDS doesn't even show up until after an incubation period of some weeks; so your "honey" of the hour could test clean as a whistle but still be carrying a death sentence inside the blood. Russian roulette.

I worked highway construction in college and one summer after I got out of the Army. Audley in Bow, NH, and Palazzi in Hooksett. John Palazzi died fairly young from a stroke, but he had the biggest operation in NH in the 60s and early 70s. When I worked for Audley the owner had three sons: Pat, Sam, and Mike. So he had a separate equipment company called Pasami, named after his sons. One day on the job one of the huge Cat haulers was backing up and one of the sons (Sam, I think) was not paying attention, and he got killed on the spot. No, old man Audley did not shut down his business, the workers did not all quit, nor did I. We all continued to work -- we were building Interstate 89 up in the New London area at that time -- because it was important work that would help save time for millions of people in the future. Absolutely ZERO comparison with running a whore house online.

Sooooooo...
You think construction is safe?
What about farming?
As usual, you miss the point bcause you're on a blind jihad for whatever reason. Craigslist must be cutting into the classified revenue of the Washington Times.

I've been a supporter of legalized prostitution my entire adult life. I think adults should be free to do what they want to, with their bodies. That I feel they should be able to do what they want, including kill themselves, that doesn't mean I want to actually see them do it. Prostitution is no different. how would you feel if your sister became a prostitute? How would you feel if your mom was one? Would you marry a woman who was a legal prostitute? My guess is you wouldn't, or you'd at least have reservations about it. I've never paid for sex (well, not directly ), yet I think people should absolutely be able to. I still wouldn't want my daughter to take up a career as a hooker.

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him." A classic study in contradiction (NOT Kontradiction). Makes no sense.
