Obama has to remove all troops from the Middle East. Every day that he doesn't brings the chance of more dead Taliban, but more importantly and likely, dead Afghan civilians who mean us no harm. Once innocents die, their family and friends are compelled to hate Westerners and their ideas more and more. American troops will also die needlessly, as the effort to eradicate Al Queda becomes the effort to erradicate the Taliban, becomes the effort to erradicate the next group that hates us. Successes in Afghanistan are insignificant and temporary. Our presence there is arrogant, futile and wreckless.

Obama now owns this mess because he could have ended it all on January 21 - he has chosen not to.
