41 years later Lt. William Calley Apologizes for My Lai...
One of the darkest hours in the fog of the Vietnam Conflict was the My Lai Massacre and the subsequent cover up... try to avoid the hysteria, without regard somewhere between 100 and 500 civilians were killed.. and then there was a subsequent coverup.. only one person was convicted, Lt. William Calley who was convicted of the murder of 22 people, initially sentenced to life in prison.. Nixon got involved and had him released from prison pending appeal.. his sentence was adjusted and he spent 4.5 months in prison.. without regard he has come forth and apologized for his transgressions..
He remains steadfast that he was following orders, some day we will actually know the truth.. was he the perp, a scapegoat or just a pawn of the masters of war???
“There is not a day that goes by that I do not feel remorse for what happened that day in My Lai,” Calley told members of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Columbus on Wednesday. His voice started to break when he added, “I feel remorse for the Vietnamese who were killed, for their families, for the American soldiers involved and their families. I am very sorry.”
He did not deny what had happened that day, but did repeatedly make the point — which he has made before — that he was following orders.
Calley explained he had been ordered to take out My Lai, adding that he had intelligence that the village was fortified and would be “hot” when he went in. He also said the area was submitted to an artillery barrage and helicopter fire before his troops went in. It turned out that it was not hot and there was no armed resistance. But he had been told, he said, that if he left anyone behind, his troops could be trapped and caught in a crossfire

You never want to discuss that. You are what you are.

Step back from the edge, avoid the hysteria... hundreds of millions???
Guess in your world you can justify this kind of thing... I cannot and neither could the American People... innocents die in the fog of war, but in this case it was a massacre and a cover up.

He means all communists for all time, including starting World War II by being there in the first place to make Hitler develop his fierce anti-communism, and of course by being in WWII, forcing the allies to saturation bomb Axis cities. Obviously it's a short hop to the east for the Commies to be responsible for Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Tokyo. Those chip in another mill right there...
There's nothing wrong with tens of millions for horror numbers foggy.

"hysteria"??? Why is it when YOU post about a guy who went around the bend and killed 400 or so, it's supposed to be "news" (only 40 years old, at that), but talking about hundreds of millions murdered is "hysteria"????
And how about the New York Times' culpability for covering up the Stalininst slaugher of tens of millions of Ukrainians and others during the 1930s??? When Walter Duranty was sending in his fables of the Sovieta, and the Sultzbergers ate it up like ice cream?? I guess if it's tens of millions or hundreds of millions it's just a statistic to you, but if it's some hundreds it's "big news" to you. Talk about a totally warped view on the world. But we've all come to expect it from you. It's what you do.
Sleep well with Mao and Fidel under your pillow.

My Lai was one of the worst tragedies in American history. William Calley's "sentence" was/is an insult to any judicial system. Any poster who spins My Lai is UNAMERICAN.
There may be unanswered questions concerning the Lockerbie bomber, but there is none concerning William Calley. He should be in Leavenworth along with any higher ups who ordered the massacre.

How many times are you going to cut-and-paste this post?
How do you feel about the autrocities committed by Ghengis Khan and the Romans?
Ever wonder how many deaths were caused by capitalism or religios lunatics?
