Default College Courses For Free - Open Courseware

Pretty cool thing sweeping the country right now ... it's called Open Courseware ... free college courses. I don't think they count towards a degree but it is free learning.

Where to find Open Courseware & Open Education resources & classes

Quote:
There is an exciting movement going on in our country right now and it's called Open Courseware. Open Courseware is built on the idea that educational resources should be available to everyone, everywhere-----for free.

There are currently over 150 colleges and universities who are participating in the Open Courseware project by posting their lectures, videos, tests, audio recordings, lecture notes and multi media presentations online.

While Open Courseware is geared towards high school and college age students, it is also for parents. If you want to create life long learners you need to be a lifelong learner. Let your kids see you learning and using technology for more than email and blogging.

This is a great idea and we should build on it, anything that makes our ppl smarter/better educated we should do no matter the cost.

Education and Science is the key to our future, I really hope we as a country can agree on this, right or left.

An aside, related to this, is that we know an educator from maine, who works pt for a company offering on line high school courses.. not sure why this is offered, but she is starting to make money from it. Education will change... difficult to conceptualize where it is going, but in 20 years it will look different than it does now.
