This is the sort of thing that on the ground might moot the entire dichotomy between authoritarian regimes and democratic regimes...
But I have a sort of irrational faith in democratic government regardless After all it produces this sort of idiocy, but it also quite recently showed us, as a nation, at our best (and continues to, as we recover from the worst economic fustercluck in nearly 80 years.)
When we're free to speak, a lot of morons will get very loud... that's obvious. But then again, that's part of what makes the country great. If something DOES need to be said (or for that matter shouted,) it will be said or shouted.
