You see, the right wing is so colorblind that if a private club chooses to rescind a membership to a group that happens to be black, it has nothing to do with their skin color. From this point of view, perhaps not even slavery was racist -- it was just a big coincidence that blacks happened to be the ones available to be slaves.

Sharpton, Jackson, and the NAACP are great for this kind of thing. They have the guts to go into all white community and demand explanations, and stand up to idiots who get rid of just the black kids and say it's not racism. After all, the kids reported when they entered the pool, all the white kids got out; that a pool attendant said the club did not allow black kids; and that at least one person complained about their being black kids in the pool.

No, you just need to be educated. When an largely-white club in a largely-white area gets rid of only black kids, and the kids report hearing racist comments, then there's a good chance that racism was involved. I think even conservative nonracists would agree with that.

Article wasn't posted earlier in the thread and I don't hang around the news websites of other cities so pardon everyone else here for not having the facts as those weren't available. The only facts were the couple of articles originally posted that denied racism as a motive and were light on hard facts


I refuse to call something racism without hard facts. I've read it now and it's race. Rotten racism but hard not to deny the articles you posted Hope they take the club to the wringer...the club deserves it

That makes sense. The first reports were probably short on facts.

A strange irony is that when the Supremes were liberal and upholding civil rights, they also upheld the right of private clubs to discriminate based on race, so I guess it's not clear that the club broke the law. But, it certainly deserves this bad publicity. In an age when our nation seems to be becoming more colorblind, to subject little kids to the ignorance of racism is just terrible.

Except that these kids "hear" what they are told to hear by Jesse and Al. They have been "educated" to see, hear, taste, and smell that ... "white, honky out to git you, n-gga!!"

I'll bet you a $100 today, after all the "education" we've been getting for the past 30 years from the NAACP, Jesse, and Al, no whites in PHILLY (of all places) is going to be using racial epithets. The kids made a ruckus -- understandably.... their KIDS!! -- and when the regular users of the pool expressed their displeasure at being suddenly over-run by a pack of howling kids, all of a sudden it has morphed into a "racial" thing. To which I say: "HOSS CRAP." Never happened. It was a "kid thing" all the way. And totally understandable, too.
