Default The Lingering Effects of "Psychological" Torture

Gitmo Study: The Lingering Effects of Torture - ABC News

Among other things, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and severe depression.

Quote:
Newly emerging research on large numbers of torture survivors shows that anecdotal stories like these are common and suggests that "psychological" forms of torture -- often thought to be milder than the direct infliction of physical pain -- can in fact have serious long-term mental health consequences.

So since 3 guys were 'tortured' how did they come up with thsi 'study'.....

If the guys who killed my friends are depressed I am happy, I just wish we could have placed them in a skyscraper and have it fall on them...

Psychological Torture for me is looking at pictures of Pelosi, Schumer, Reid and the new one The Bag Lady, Sotomayo, when these bastards "GRIN" they scare the crap out of me, if I woke up in the middle of the night and Sotomayo was standing in my bedroom GRINNING I would Diarrhea all over the walls and ceiling.

Specifically in regard to Gitmo, it's been well documented that many of the prisoners were never charged with anything beyond suspicion. Regardless, the debate in this forum has been about America's traditional moral position on torture, and those apologists' who nitpick over various levels of torture and argue in particular that waterboarding has no lasting effect.

So now basically, you're stating torture is OK?

3 people were waterboarded, I for one is glad they were waterboarded, if they have 'lingering effects' that is fine with me.

PTSDT is different for different people.. and there are a whole bunch of intangibles here, have done a lot of work with folks with PTSDT in the 90's... some suffered horrific abuse and it had minimal impact on their lives.. others suffered less and they became emotional cripples.. so there are a lot of other "inner" factors... the reality is that it is long lasting..

On a personal note, a kid I knew well from the institution, died in my arms on Friday, April 13, 1982.. he was one of the first Puerto Rican kids I had the opportunity to know well, there is not a day I do not see his face and the ropeburns on his neck.. kind of get a little shock daily, I know it will never go away.. so PTSDT means different things for different people. It does not impair my functioning, but it effects my view of the world...

IF WATERBOARDING 3 CAMEL F'ERS IS TORTURE THEN YES I AM STATING IT IS OKAY.

my personal opinion especially in regard to the mastermind of the 9-11 attacks is here should of had the most heinous torture possible. maybe we should have forced him to make the decision between jumping off the 82nd floor or being burned to death. do you want us to give him a f'ing cookie? would that be okay with you. does your vagina hurt when you read stories of his waterboarding? he should have burned alive slowly for 5 years.

Well considering their victims families suffer for life also then it's fitting that they suffer forever ... who gives a crap ... not me.
