My point is that 85% are insured. 15% are uninsured.
Advocacy figure that is bogus.
Take away all the young people who choose not to buy healthcare since they're healthy and all the 12 million illegals and that figure goes way, way down.
Cato Institute is all over that. Check it out for yourself.

Take away poor Americans, and the number drops even further. What's your point?
Besides about 35% of illegals are insured according to a Pew study, and 14% of natives (by which I presume they mean life-long citizens) are uninsured. That's quite a sizable number.
I also think the best thing about national health care for those of us who already have health care is job mobility, and more freedom in terms of starting up a private business. When I had my own business, I was paying close to $750/month for my partner and I to get insurance. It was a sizeable expense on top of all the costs of starting up a business, and now that I'm older and insurance costs have increased, I wouldn't be surprised if decent insurance would cost me close to twice that.

First, tell the truth. The 46 million Americans without health insurance is a lie.
Even the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that up to 22% of the 46 million people in America without health insurance are illegal immigrants, a low-ball figure.
So foreign-born illegals are American? No, they are not. Don't say otherwise. Don't use bogus, advocacy stats.
Like one in ten are gay or lesbian.
Another lie by advocates, trying to induce the fulfillment of their policy wish.

The 46 million number comes from a US Census report put out a couple years ago. Please post your evidence that the Census is lying. Now that I've shown you my basis for that number, show me your basis for saying it's a lie.
The census shows a gradual climb in the number of uninsured to 45.7 as of 2007:

State: "Take away all the young people who choose not to buy healthcare since they're healthy and all the 12 million illegals and that figure goes way, way down."
Okay, now let's pretend that none of the illegals have health insurance; that means there are still 34 million uninsured.

I never said that illegal immigrants were American.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do here, but please don't say that I said things that I did not say.

Interestingly, 20% of the uninsured had household incomes more than $75K, so there's clearly some choice going on there.
I think one of the arguments for national health care is that it should be mandatory because hospitals have to treat the sick regardless. That said, given the cost of private health insurance (especially if you have a preexisting condition) and the fact that in many areas $75k for a household is not a lot, it's still possible that people might not be able to afford it even if they earn $75k.
Then why focus on smoking cessation? Sort of shoots that theory down in any immediate sense, Icy.
Your point's taken, so far as it goes. It doesn't matter what else you get right, your society can be taken down with the stroke of the actuary's pen. Add five years tomorrow to everybody's life expectency, and they'd need to add another zero to the end of every deficit calculation.
Remember when they unlocked the genome and found out how aging worked and that it was an utterly unnecessary process, and they came up with the cure, but they didn't tell any of the stupid people because
DOH
okay scratch that last part
PFnV
I'm not sure you can get the remaining smokers to quit............just look at the prices of smokes
The Census doesn't care one way or the other if the person is illegal or not. They should. They take especial care not to discourage illegals from responding to their queries.
And you're wrong, Patters, though I still love you. The bogus 46 million figure has repeatedly come from the White House's team of economic advisers.

There's allot of variables with that document that dont compute, like the inclusion of people under the age of 18 in the poverty section. I was shocked to see so many poor teens? I also found it interesting that the lowest poverty was recorded in the 70's, bell bottoms and gas guzzling cars who would have thunk it. Looks like it's time to tap anwar and subsudize french fries at school cafeterias, that outta do it......
