Michael Jackson's music sucked....a lot!
I never got his appeal... and I'm a big Motown and soul freak.
(Let's see if we can hijack this thread into the "Who's the best Motown artist" direction.)
TEMPTATIONS
They did some R&B and Doo-Wop whenever I hear that stuff it brings me back to Central Sq Cambridge during the 60's, live it up Whistah, the years fly by.......

In all fairness to Michael Jackson, he was never convicted of child abuse, despite the fact that he had a large number of kids stay at his place, and many of them testified in his behalf. He did agree to a settlement with one child, who rumor has it is now claiming he and his father lied in order to win a settlement. Was Michael Jackson a child abuser? Quite possibly. But, it's certainly not slam-dunk.
I like sleeping with children in my bed! Do the Math.......

Are you saying that if you shared your bed with a child, you'd have sex with that child? I hope not! I'm not disagreeing that Michael Jackson was weird, and based on what I know, I agree with DarrylS that he's one of those people who should not be around kids. But, my feeling is, since he was never convicted and has many defenders among those kids, let's just remember his music and dancing, which once upon a time I enjoyed as did any others. When someone is dead, we can give them the benefit of a doubts.

Temps were my first 45 (Papa Was a Rollin Stone). I bought two that day when I was about 6 down at a record store in Porter Sq. The other one was Theme from Shaft by Isaac Hayes. Temptations are my favorite American act by far. Jackson couldn't tie Ruffins shoes.

I do, they are my own! Some times they wake up scared and you have to pull them into your bed for a little while. I don't however, solicit children from poor desperate families to partake in some bed time ritual that clenses my soul. It is ignorant to glorify people like this in their death, purely ignorant, but the fact remains that pop culture beats to it's own self absorbed drum, and I am not surprised.
I understand that Sony carried him, financially, for years up to his death to keep him out of bankruptcy. They were his biggest creditor and they figured if he went into bankruptcy they'd have to repossess the Beatles catalog, which would bring them a huge amount of negative PR with Jackson's fans. So its really no wonder why the news outlets that you might think would be screaming 'CHILD RAPIST MEETS HIS FATE' are laying back. There's still millions of Jackson fans out there that don't believe a word of the accusations and they're too likely to crush anybody who isn't delicate.

They had a special on PBS last winter with a lot of the old doo-wop stuff it was great.
The Supremes were good also, they all came out of the Projects I believe one of them had a pretty rough time of it and died I think.
I never knew the names of most of those Motown people but the Music was always coming out of the Jukeboxes in those little Cambridge Beer & Wine neighborhood bars.
About 15 years ago my wife and I were staying at at a big Inn at Kennebunk Maine the Platters were playing there that night, there was one "Original Platter" singing with them, we had a table that was only about 25 feet away from them and when they opened up with the song "Great Pretender" I went into a Coma from the past to be so close to their voices and they had a great sound system, they sang for almost three hours, one of the best "music nights" I have ever had and we just stumbled into it we didn't even know they were playing there.
I wonder if they are atill around, the original one that was with them was pretty old.

The issue of the thread here is about this unconscionable abuse by a man of a child that he, along with his same-sex "partner", had adopted. To make matters even worse, the child is a racial minority, a black child, abused by this white man. I'm genuinely sorry if this is an inconvenient reality for you to see, but it cannot and must not be swept under the rug; and you can be sure that it will not be. I do not contend that *all* same-sex couples do this kind of abomination, but this heinous crime cannot be ignored.
At a time when same-sex couples are seeking trust and acceptance by the mainstream, this does not bode well for that cause.

What you're implying is that such abuse by homosexual parents is much more common than by heterosexual parents, otherwise you would also being posting threads about heterosexuals who commit child abuse. I'm not certain if your post is intended to be anti-gay or anti-child abuse. Patters is right. This is the sort of bigotry a lot of righties just don't seem to comprehend.

For what it's worth, though I was never an MJ fan, I do recognize that his Thriller album was a great record. However, whether he or the producers were the creative driving force behind it is another debate altogether.
