You can expect UNemployment figures to shoot up because of this. It always happens, even in a good economy. As soon as employers are forced by the government to raise their pay scale, people get laid off. Never fails.
The inmates are definitely running the asylum now.

Paying someone I don't care who, less then $10 hr should be a crime.Quit buying your 500k houses and 50k boats and 30k hummers and start paying your workers what there worth.
Here in the USA, we are workers not slaves........

You know this has nothing to do with Obama don't you..
Congress on Thursday, May 24, 2007 approved the Federal Minimum Wage increase and a spokesman for President Bush said he would sign the bill into law.
One thing not clear about the Unification Church is its social justice mission, just about every religious group advocates for social justice and in this case a fair wage for the working poor.. if I am to read this post correctly, there is advocacy for corporate america instead of advocacy for the working poor..
$7.25 per hour is $290.00 per week.. $15,000 per year.. the Federal Poverty Guidelines for a family of 3 is $18,310... except in Alaska which is $22,890.. this wage will not exactly create wealth amongst the working poor.

So... you want to punish rank-and-file American laborers rather than the siuts at WalMart?

No, he is stating a simple fact. When businesses are forced to pay unskilled labor a rate that is artificially high, well, businesses simply won't hire them. This will affect summer teen jobs.

That may work well in a booming economy, but now many have to go to return to work in entry level positions and this is what they have to look forward to.
Know a few folks who have been laid off, and are finding that their unemployment pays more than entry level jobs they can find.

That doesn't change the fact that there will be fewer of these jobs "to look forward to" the higher the pay goes. Your point may well be an accurate statement of fact but it doesn't counter ljuneau's point.
