They believed Bush could have prevented 9/11 in 8 months.

And I thought that was Clinton's fault... the reality is that if anyone expects something that was signed into law, to hit the streets in 4 months does not have a clue about how the Fed/State Gov works.. SC supreme court just ordered the Gov to take it..

They seemed more than able to shell out tens of millions to people claiming to be Katrina victims...

What "regulations" need to be developed? Sounds to me like more red tape and bigger government... The country doesn't need that.

While I agree with your premise that 4 months isn't long enough to judge the affects that the stimulus package has had, the claims that the administration are making are friggin ridiculous.

If you don't see it in 6 months, i doubt you see anything in next years. In the mean time, please continue with your false hope.

The analogy to Katrina is poor, as there are existing regulations and agencies that are supposed to respond to emergencies.. comparable to NYC on 9/11.. there are existing agencies and regulations that just happen in an emergency..

Here is a brief civics 102 class.. when a bill is passed there are subsequent regulations written, they are then commented on and revised.. it is what it is, this is not unique to Obama it has always happened this way. It is the way bills are made into law.. this is no the best source, but it encapsulates something that was generated by the AARP..

Advancing the Science: A Psychologist's Guide to Participation in Federal Policymaking

Quote:
After a bill is passed by Congress and becomes law, it is referred to the appropriate Executive Branch agency for the development of implementing regulations. While laws outline the general intent of Congress, regulations spell out the specific details of how the law will be applied
.

If you are interested here is a copy of the Federal Register..

Federal Register: Main Page

Here is a copy of the bill.. it is about a gazillion pages long..

Hey, clowns. I had occasion recently to read the few cuts in the '10 budget.

Loved this one cut to an additional incentive going to farmers, on top of a multibillion dollar yearly program... to pay farmers to let hunters hunt on their land. The actual cuts are incredibly minor, 178 million on a program we're paying 21 billion dollars for... to encourage "sporting" activities on private land.

Socialist Hunters need to stop using my tax money to pay to Socialist farmers... these Socialist red state programs are why they're called "red" states...

Another one phases out direct payments to farms with more than 500K per annum sales ... savings this year only 85 million, but almost 10 billion by 2019. Not to mention payments to farmers who make $250K plus income, though the savings there are less.

Another 8 terminations of oil and gas industry subsidies... takes effect in 2011, 26 billion saved by 2019.

At any rate, as we all know, the various cuts for one year only add up to 17 billion. That's not enough.

God Bless America God Bless Barack HUSSEIN Obama!!! Be fiscally conservative -- starve the Ag/Sportsman Beast, big and small!!!

We need the money to clean up Dubya's mess (which is what the bloody stimulus is ya freakin troglodytes!

Which is exactly why it was a bad idea for the government to push through a ridiculous spending bill that will most likely miss its intended target of an immediate stimulus. I agree with your point, what scares me is that evidently the decision makers in Washington did not.
