Default Is immigration reversing..

Interesting take from WSJ this AM.. had read this before, but it is about the economy... so far the evidence is anecdotal.. but there are trends..

The Great U-Turn - WSJ.com

Quote:
The developed world, which for decades has offered a difficult but promising path to upward mobility, appears to be losing its allure. Unemployment is rising, and backlashes against foreign workers are mounting.

The result is potentially the biggest turnaround in migration flows since the Great Depression, economists say.

Does this mean the tired, the poor, and the huddled masses come to America not to breathe free??

You mean the wretched refuse and homeless from other countries come here for American jobs??

.

Since 2001, we've made it harder for the world's best and brightest to study here, and to also stay here to work. TARP has made it even harder. Lots of talent has been forced back to their home countries where they go and uplift their economies back home.

While the bright don't come, the swill still does. When you live in a tin shack on the side of a cliff in El ****istan, why wouldn't you come to the Welfare States of America, and get you some free health care, an apartment, and just about any other freebie you can find.

I have read and heard in the last few months that the USA isn't as desirable as it once was for illegal aliens because of the economy. Its much harder to find a job, so it just makes sense that the tide would turn.

kind of makes sense..........most of these people will have difficulty finding incomes that have existed for their group in recent years........so its time to take the money they saved and go home to live like kings......

I do not believe this is a long-term trend ..... as soon as there is growth here, others will come

Next downturn back home they return here...next downturn here they return home...it's a cycle.

Are you referring to legal or illegal immigration? Are they both declining? It wouldn't bother the vast majority of Americans at all if ILLEGAL immigration stopped completely.

As for attracting the best and the brightest, it was only a matter of time before other nations began to catch up to the U.S. on an economic opportunity level. Not much we can do about that.

We could all do each other a great service as fellow Americans by reporting illegal immigrants to the authorities as often as possible.
