Default Russia preparing for N. Korea situation to go "hot"

when people are done obsessing over threads about Obama's birth certificate, or claims of "reverse racism," please tuck your shirt back and save your energy... the rest of us will be over here, because there are a few incredibly scary international stories in the news currently. ... join in when your race-based hate subsides.

anyhoo, back to relevant issues... from the "Uh oh" department, I believe these 3 stories are somewhat related to one another (as the world jockeys for position before the energy crash):

Russia fears Korea conflict could go nuclear

Perspective from M. Ruppert:

What this one says clearly is that this is serious. Russians are not ones to raise alarm and when they do... everybody listens. Russia has a border with North Korea. Russia is preparing militarily in case the conflict goes hot. That would include containment, possible evacuations, medical treatment, and protection of critical oil and gas infrastructure in the region. With Putin condemning North Korea and Medvedev urging caution against hasty action in the UN, it's clear that Russia is doing some serious back-channeling with Pyongyang and stalling for time. It has alerted the whole world that a nuclear war might be imminent. Russia holds a permanent seat on the UN Security Council with veto power. So does China.

“Arctic Natural Gas is Mostly Russian”

from the story:

Russia has been active in asserting its claim to parts of the Arctic. It first submitted a claim to the United Nations in 2001, but was rejected for lack of evidence. The United States, Canada, Denmark and Norway have also sought to assert jurisdiction over parts of the Arctic.

Now, Russia is working to prove that an underwater mountain range crossing the polar region is part of its continental shelf. In 2007 two Russian civilian mini-submarines descended to the seabed to collect geological and water samples and drop a titanium canister containing the Russian flag.
and finally,

Iraq deal to revive gas pipeline

More from M. Ruppert:
Here’s the short version: Western Europe, NATO and the U.S. want gas pipeline that will bypass Russia. It’s called Nabucco. It will run from northwestern Iraq through Turkey and end in Vienna. It is competing against a Russian pipeline called South Stream. That pipeline will also serve Rumania and Austria but will add Greece and Italy. I do not think both can be built given the lack of financing and the collapsing economies of Eastern Europe. I suspect that both cannot be funded. The Russians offer a better deal for Europe. Now couple that with the above.
If there was plenty of energy for generations, ask yourself why nations would be simultaneously ramping up their military, clawing to tap the incredibly expensive deep-sea Arctic for gas, and spending tens of billions of dollars on competing pipelines to the Euro market?

The Russians see that there is a lot wealth in the Artic and will stake their claim since the current administration isn't interested in developing our resources.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

At what cost would you have him do so? How far would the U.S. under your leadership go? Would you initiate a show-down up there for the "rights" to the Arctic?

During the previous administration since then the current administration has banned all off shore drilling and any other development of fossil fuels in America.
