Gov. Haley Barbour (R-Miss.) predicted Wednesday that despite his current popularity in the polls, President Barack Obama will eventually suffer the same reversal of political fortune that befell President Bill Clinton in 1994.

The difference, Barbour suggested, is that Clinton, in time, made his peace with the Ronald Reagan revolution, informing Congress that the era of big government is over.

“His policies were liberal, but not nearly as far left as those of Obama,” Barbour said.

By contrast, Barbour went on, “Obama has given up on capitalism. ... He is expanding the size of government beyond anything that anyone previously dreamed of. His efforts to deal with climate change by executive fiat would impose an enormous [energy] tax on the poor and the working class, dragging down the American economy.”

Obama is a hard core socialist.

Whatever label you want to give him, it's clear we've never seen a President expand government like this. If you like the expansion of government, great, but he is was he is and "The Government Expander" is what he should be called. Once his health care plan and cap & trade are in place . . . wow.

You should brush up on your history then. And by brush up, I mean actually read some.

In all of U.S. history, we've never seen a president who has expanded government as quickly as BO. FDR grew the government commensurately, but over years - not months.

More and more people are seeing him for the Socialist he is.

And if you make the assumption that he gets universal health care plus cap&trade done then I think he might surpass FDR. I don't think he'll get cap&trade passed but he just might. Maybe I'm wrong on the % of GDP increase but if he doesn't pass FDR for #1 then I think he would be sitting proudly at #2.
