Default Guantanamo Bay is here to stay

Democrats on Capitol Hill Rebel Against President Obama's Guantanamo Bay Plan - ABC News
Quote:
The U.S. Senate today dealt another blow to President Obama's plans to shut down the detainee center at Guantanamo Bay.

The Senate followed in the footsteps of the House of Representatives and overwhelmingly passed a measure that opposes funding for the Guantanamo shutdown, voting 90-6 to block one of Obama's signature national security issues.
Republicans have been raising alarm bells for weeks about the prospect of Obama's planned closure of Guantanamo Bay.

Where will the detainees go, they've asked over and over. Will they be tried in the United States? And will former detainees, if cleared of the charges against them, be walking the U.S. streets?
When they heard Obama telling them to bring terrorists to US, they say HELL NO.

GITMO IS HERE TO STAY.

Dems have to admit they were wrong on GITMO

The conclusion does not necessarily follow from the premises.

If Gitmo was so bad they would have cut funding and closed the facility, they didn't do what they had promised, it is very simple.

Clearly not. The problem is that it requires new funding to close the facility and Obama needs to convince Congress that he has a place to put the detainees. Once that part is solved, the problem is solved. It seems fairly straightforward, but I'm not surprised this board turns it into something that it is not.

People in the midst of solving a problem are fools? Let's never solve problems then if the masses are pointing their thumbs downward in the middle of a process.

Gee I don't remember hearing that during the election. I heard an end to military tribunal and Gitmo closed quickly. What happened? What has changed about Gitmo since the campaign....

What a joke, empty posturing nothing more, Bush was right on GITMO, spinboy. Their countries won't thake these boys back they are too dangerous, or the countries will torture them for real.

From the way Flop Ears was blabbing from his teleprompter during the campaign I thought he was going to take Biden Pelosi and Michelle down to Cuba and close it the day after his Coronation.

I bet those guys out in Pelican Bay and Folsom wish they were down in Gitmo playing Soccer and eating Turkey Dinners.

The whole Gitmo Fiasco was just another "Get Bush Play" put on by the Jealous Haters.

When Bush mumbled and grinned at them he drove them nuts, Auntie "Hag Bag" Pelosi has had a mental meltdown over her obsession with "President Bush"-----
