We often talk here as if one of the above is true. Our discussions often seem to paint a picture that Americans are so divided by political views when the reality is we don't even notice our differences. Hell, neither side is organizing an army and preparing for war, so why do we seem to act as if we are heading toward such a destiny?

We work and play side-by-side everyday. Who among us ever wonders what if the person beside us is from the left or the right? Who really cares? When we live in the Real World (plug for my buddy), we don't put a lot of emphasis on political views.

I think we should always remind ourselves that neither side is more evil than the other. and that folks is a fact.

Yes, you're far more right wing than anyone realized when you joined the forum. We get it. But please don't present a philosophical question, and then wrap up your OPINION by insisting it's "fact." That's what Fog does.

Some of us believe far right religious conservatism is a personality disorder, based on the way said people treat other human beings in both the long and short term. Perhaps not evil, but it certainly seems dysfunctional.

Just my opinion here, but let's stick to current events that are tangible. This thread is a piss-match starter if there ever was one.

Besides, geology doesn't care if any of us are left or right. All of our lives are in the process of undergoing dramatic change... War and famine will precede that condition... Still, it's not "lefties" who perpetuate that narrow-minded, reactionary solution (war) to resource shortages.

If you've followed me, I have started several philosophical threads regarding the topic that we're all Americans and neither the left nor the right is "more good".

It shouldn't surprise nor upset you as to my political views. I have clearly laid them out before. But just to remind you here's a summary;

-I'm pro-choice
-I support gay marriage
-I believe America should always be for Americans first
-I am pro-green and fully support the effort to get off fossil fuels as much as possible
-I'm anti-big business and believe no business should be able to lobby our representatives
-I enthusiastically support anti-trust enforcement
-Yet I love capitalism
-I support universal health care but do not support taxing co. paid health ins.
-I do not support open borders
-I am in favor of much stricter immigration policies
-I support gun control and believe no one should be able to own automatic weapons like AK47's
-I am for more strict sentencing and parol considerations
-I am for making our public education system more equal
-I have voted for one republican in my life (gov. Weld)
-I am against World Economic Summit protesters
-I have zero tolerance for racism
-I dislike both the far right and the far left from a philosophical perspective

Now tell me, how is that more conservative than I lead people to believe?

FYI...that is definately a liberal belief system no matter how you slice it. especially outside the east and west coasts.

PR, i'm neither surprised nor upset, nor concerned about your particular views.

Fact is, your OPINION is not fact. Some of us believe far right wing conservatism is inherently dysfunctional, some of us do not. Your thread here isn't going to change that either way.

I prefer George Carlin's succinct analysis:

Progressives concern themselves with people's rights...
Conservatives focus on property and money's rights...

I do absolutely believe that neither the left nor the right is "more right". And I'm sure the right feels about the left just as you do about the right.

Since it can't be proven that one side is "more right" than the other, it actually is fact that neither is true. Is blue a better color than red?

A better thread would be who is more evil the republicans or the democrats ... my answer would be neither. As far as the left or right being more evil well they are kind of evil in their own ways aren't they?
We need more moderates but as Patter's has said a few times ... they just don't have enough passion ... I guess he's right ... thus we are stuck with righties and lefties winning elections.

You & I totally agree on this issue IcyPat. To me it's strange for anyone to believe that people are evil because of their political views. As I stated in my opening, this board doesn't reflect reality at all. Everyday lefties and righties work side by side without a thought about either one's views.
