If it was up to me, votes would be open for a set time period and a legislator could do so in person or over the web; but then Texas wouldn't seem quite so down homey I guess.

I saw no evidence this was the case, that they were asked by the other Reps to punch their buttons. And seriously, a Rep from one party willingly entering a vote from a Rep from the other party, even though it's against house rules? That would be too much to expect.
