He should lose the money he got in bribes. I hope this doesn't interfere with whatever they're doing to fine/tax him; but an 85 year old is a bit old to lock up IMO.

How will the righties respond to this poor Ted thread, he was convicted under George Bush and now Eric Holder decided not to proceed because of prosecutorial misconduct.. hooray for the constitution.. he is guilty as sin, the dumbass prosecutors blew it..

Quote:
Attorney General Eric Holder said he decided to abandon the case against Stevens, a Republican who had been the longest serving U.S. senator, after a review showed prosecutors did not provide full disclosure to the defence at trial.

Orrin Hatches comments about the Justice Dept under BUsh..

Lawyer says prosecutors' request has 'cleared' Stevens - CNN.com

Quote:
"Here's a guy who gave better than 60 years' service to the country and was screwed -- screwed by our own Justice Department," Hatch said. But he praised Holder for "standing up and fixing this foul situation."
Of course Sarah had to open the piehole..

Quote:
"It is a frightening thing to contemplate what we may be witnessing here -- the undermining of the political process through unscrupulous ploys and professional misconduct. Senator Stevens ... never gave up hope. It is unfortunate that, as a result of the questionable proceedings which led to Senator Stevens' conviction days before the election, Alaskans lost an esteemed statesman on Capitol Hill. His presence is missed

By the way did that Congressman with 90 grand -- that "he knew nothing about" -- stashed in his freezer ever resign??? Last I heard he was fighting it and seeking re-election. Wow, talk about a miscarriage of justice on THAT one!!!

OH, that's right! He's a Dem, so his crimes don't count.

Every district hates politicians, except for their guy that brings home the bacon. In Stevens case, whenever he brought home the bacon, someone else would slip a few biscuits in his basket, if you know what I mean.

I'm shocked that people are surprised by this. The one guarantee, or close to guarantee, is that politicians won't do time for their crimes. Lose their job? Maybe. Doing time? Hardly ever. I wouldn't be surprised if the evidence was held on purpose, so that this very result would happen.

Name one member here who ever, ever, defended that Louisiana congressman. It was always unanimous that the guy was slime. Is this a backdoor defense of Stevens?
