For those, like Apple, who just show up once in a while I want to re-iterate that I am on record here as saying I'm fine with the government paying for a person's health insurance if they work 40 hours a week, whether at McDonalds or just picking up trash or cleaning grafitti. I have NO PROBLEM with a person who is willing to work getting health insurance. However, for those who are able but not willing to work - I have no sympthy for them nor any desire to put a cent of government money towards their health.
Even if they wanted to how would the govt just step in and tell those huge profit machines that it's all over. Healthcare doesn't need a bailout, at least not yet but given the direction this govt seems to be taking I can't imagine healthcare is something they wouldn't want to somehow control too. It's a massive industry that's growing all the time, in fact it's probably one of the only industries that IS growing.

Right now if Apple was in a car crash and had no job or insurance he would be seen and taken care of. He would be asked to pay the bill by the hospital, but if he didn't, we would end up paying in the end.
I don't like government being involved in health care, but i like insurance (for profit) companies even less. There has to be some middle ground found somehow.

Think about it everyone gets sick so theres always going to be health care. 25 years ago it wasn't looked at as a profit making bonansa, but insurance companies taking over changed that.
I still have no idea how nationalizing it will make it better. Our health care is FINE. Yes we could work to fill in the holes of insurance for those that deserve it (those who work and those who aren't able bodied). But throwing it over the fence to the government isn't going to make it better. Fix the problems, don't trash the system.
And, for the last time, Holy Diver, I DO NOT work for the insurance industry or have anything to do with it.

Willing to work? 1) Almost everybody is willing to work, this is a strawman argument like no other. 2) That's skirting the entire issue. The problem is what happens when you, like 5 million Americans in the last year, lose your job? We're bleeding jobs.

It is not fine, it is insanely expensive and people without insurance go bankrupt or lose their homes for it. You really are beyond the looking glass on this issue.

But if I did everything I could to pay the bill I'd be paying something like quadruple the rates insurance companies get. People are being asked to bankrupt themselves for their own health and not a lot of people even know they can negotiate with the hospitals at this point. It is a system that is beyond broken.
