When I was younger Porn wasn’t as available as it is today the only place we had to watch it was in the back room of our corner barber shop on Brookline St in Cambridge, the barber had a screen set up and an old Kodak movie projector that he used, he charged us 25 cents to watch.
Right next door was a Chinese laundry run by a Chinese couple that couldn’t speak one word of English, I used to try and “hand signal” the wife, I tried to get her to watch the movies, I told her I would sit with her and protect her (she was real good looking) I taught this women to say “f—k you” then when she saw her husband she would say “fluck dew” then he would thank me and wash my shirts for nothing he thought I was teaching her how to speak English, she used to say it to some of the customers until some god damn liberal do-gooder heard her and caught on, years later after her husband learned to speak English he would tell his friends from China Town about it and they would laugh their a$ses off, they used to come over from Boston and Smoke Opium down in the cellar of the Laundry.

I have a friend who once tried opium in Paris (many, many years ago). He said it was like a long soothing dream. He liked it, but I think overall he'd agree with you.
