How can Gov Patrick raise the gas tax? - New England Patriots Forums

In times when people are hurting more than any time in recent memory, MA gov. Duval Patrick is going to raise the state tax on gas .27 cents? This tax will hurt the average and below average person more than anyone...and he's a democrat?

I'd rather see state workers let go than have this tax increase levied.

No one cares that gas will go from $1.90 to $2.17/gallon overnight?

I am upset but not at all surprised. That's the way it is done by MA democrats, look for ways to increase revenue instead of looking for things to cut. Of course they wouldn't look into fixing the pension system or state employee healthcare system.

Just wait until they put tolls up on all the major roads at the NH, VT, RI borders and on 93 coming into the city. Can't wait! Together we can!

At some point, they'll be a mass tax revolt. If our representatives can't make logical decisions, we'll make them for them. You can't beat up a voter base that is already reeling from economic catastrophy...that's just common sense.

And we all know once a new tax is added, how difficult it is to repeal it.

. People ARE outraged but for those who aren't, just watch as summer approaches and the base price of gas begins to climb,as we all know it will. MA residents will be paying 5.50 pg thanks to the tax,and for those who think they'll get gas elsewhere in NE to save, factor in your tolls.

He is a dem, he is a lib he believe any money you earn belongs to the state, they just decide how much you get to keep of THEIR money.

Now is a great time to raise gas taxes from a libs POV. Gas prices are down and drop some more, so the tax increase will be hidden in the general price decline. When prices go up they will blame the oil companies and the sheep will get mad at the evil oil companies...

People keep voting for higher taxes they get higher taxes.
