Default SB Security Preparations

This has some great behind-the-scenes details taken from NBC's Nightly News presentation on the security preparations for this year's SB-amazing stuff, maybe some of it we sort of assumed but personally I had no idea of the magnitude of these operations.

There's some interesting stuff about NFL gear as well, what it's all made of,etc.
Quote:
To test the helmet, a headgear is positioned on a headform that is mounted onto a hybrid III neck assembly which is rigidly mounted to a linear bearing table to achieve a somewhat realistic post impact situation. The linear impactor head is propelled at the headgear such that the impact energy (Joules) is within 3% of the specified level. At impact, the instantaneous resultant acceleration is measured by a triaxial accelerometer and the Severity Index calculated.
The reason I posted this HERE instead of the main forum is due to the nature of Farago's comparison,as evidenced in his title, but it's still a good football read as well as an interesting concept.

Alan Farago: Superbowl as Panopticon
