As hundreds of thousands of Kentuckians lingered in the dark nearly a week after an ice storm wrecked the state's power grid, National Guard troops prepared to go door-to-door to check on residents.
With more than 700,000 Kentucky homes and businesses still without electricity Saturday, the state was a long way from recovering after an ice storm left a swath of destruction throughout the nation's midsection.
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear on Saturday deployed every one of his Army National Guardsmen. Authorities said they were investigating roughly a dozen deaths in Kentucky alone. A Louisville man who had been burning charcoal in a grill inside an apartment was apparently killed by carbon monoxide poisoning, the latest weather-related death.
Many will be without power for a few more weeks.
Where is BO?

as Peak Oil grows more dire, the American public will be slowly weaned onto revolving blackouts... another prediction seems to be coming true... we had all better get used to it.... if this is a particularly sweltering summer, expect much more ....
we discussed this a few months ago... infrastructure and upgrades have just not been invested... they're not prepared to fix things... just like our road system, our food distribution, etc.
Where is FEMA where is the media outrage? Katrina II?
Bo hasn't even visited the area while people freeze he is raising the heating in the WH so he doesn't have to weart a suit jacket Great...

Katrina II? Joking, right?
Where do you live?
We had no power here for 2 weeks (not me, but nearly all my family and friends) just before Christmas. Most didn't bother with Christmas because we were exhausted from trying to keep warm, cutting fallen trees and finding a place to shower...not to mention managing food supplies. In our case, we had four extra adults, two extra dogs and six extra kids using 2 bathrooms! I don't recall FEMA showing up. If they had, it prolly woulda taken two months to get straightened out. No one complained that Bush didn't show up, either, for the same reason we didn't want FEMA.
The folks in KY will have to tough it out and they'll be fine. Nothing was really permanently ruined except for some pools, trees, decks and cars -all replaceable.
Besides, BO's busy cleaning up after another cluster fukc of disasters.

You claim not to be a democrat, but man, you sure have the excuses down to a science.
Is that your entire response?...That's it?
Which excuses are you referring to?
I didn't vote for Obama...I voted for Nader because Ron Paul wasn't on the ballot.
Is it because I hate Bush that makes me a democrat? Sorry...rumpswabbing went out when I became a grownup. I just think you need to come back with a rebuttal to any of my points rather than just make some lame-asz assessment of me without any reason why.
I looked up the definition of Lame in the dictionary: it said weak, inadequate, impaired.
That pretty much sums up this post as you try to equate Obama's performance to W's.
But, hey go for it, as I've noticed that its been so boring around here since the inauguration.

Katrina was a once in a generation disaster that destroyed a great American city. It took Bushe's staff to make a tape of what was going on for him to act, act FIVE days after the fact. Kentucky is a run of the mill disaster we see every year in one place or another. There is no comparison and to imply one is asinine
So it's OK if rednecks freeze to death, with no apparent response from FEMA and no leadership from BO.
Gotta love the pass given by Libs to their guy He can do no wrong...
