It was if you hate Jews, and like the platform offered by terrorist organizations.

Exactly. One of the points of having a president who is commander in chief is so that they can stem the tide when public opinion gets silly.

Thankfully for Americans and America, Obama is not a true liberal. He was voted in because people believed he was moderate and wanted a moderate bipartisan leader.

I doubt many from the extreme left or right voted for him. If the did, they'll be very disappointed.

If the Extreme Left didn't vote for for Obama what did they do, they certainly didn't vote for McCain.

This is what drives me nuts about Obama supporters. I honestly do hope you Kool-aid drinkers are correct, and the guy is truly practical, sensible, and somewhere down the middle. HOWEVER, I'm still trying to figure out what this man has done in his lifetime, that certifies he's moderate, or centrist? Your comment above is being presented as a statement. You're not saying you "think" Obama is a moderate, you're saying he IS a moderate, and I can't see how you can come to that conclusion. I very well could be wrong, and lord knows I hope I am, but the man has done nothing to prove that which you state.

BTW, the extreme left didn't vote for him? Are you nuts?!?

I read in the Globe today that it looks like Iraqis are voting for secular candidates over the Shia faction that had been wielding influence, a very good thing IMO.

That's always a good thing. Maybe we could learn something from them.

My point exactly.

To answer the OP's sentiments - - will it (the US spending over $1 trillion and 4,000+ American soldiers' lives on Iraq) been seen as "worth it"?

Let's see what kind of government is in power a couple of years after the 140,000+ heavily armed US soldiers leave. I worked that area of the world for our intelligence agencies in the 80's and 90's - - only those ignorant of the Middle East think there will be a West-leaning, non-terrorist supporting, centralized, democratically elected government there after the US pulls out.

And for those of you who want our soldiers to stay there for decades, and for us to empty our treasury for that.........

Can't argue that.
