Default NH Rep.: expand death penalty, add firing squad

All I have to say is, where do I send my contribution to the re-elect Rep Burridge Campaign?

NH Rep.: expand death penalty, add firing squad

By Associated Press
Monday, January 26, 2009 - Added 4m ago

CONCORD, N.H. — A Keene, N.H., lawmaker wants to expand New Hampshire’s death penalty to include more crimes, and make death by a firing squad the punishment in some cases.

The current law includes the murder of judges and law enforcement officials, as well as murder for hire, murder connected to certain drug offenses and murder during a rape. But Rep. Delmar Burridge, a Democrat, also wants to include murder during a robbery or other felony using a gun.

Under the bill he has sponsored, anyone convicted under that expansion would face a firing squad instead of lethal injection. He says threatening would-be murderers with a firing squad would be a more effective deterrent.

I dunno, me personally I'd rather face a firing squad than be strapped down to a table for an injection. In fact I think that's the best option (compared to injection, hanging, the chair, are there any others?).

Also the "other felony using a gun" is a little nebulous for me, I like the rules to be pretty clear on things like this.

More effective would be to streamline the appeal process so if you're sentenced you get your appeal (or 2 or 3 or whatever they want to make it), a speedy review/retrial if necessary, and then its off to the great beyond for you.

While I do not disagree with the death penalty in capitol cases as mentioned above, they will never get away with a firing squad...

I think the electric chair iis best but minus the hood. Let's see what it looks like and play it on monitors in all the death rows.

Its pretty gross. I saw one on faces of death. You drool uncontrollably, almost hose-like in fact, and your eyeballs boil and pop out of your skull. The hoods are more for the guards and witnesses.
