Default Wiretapping: So much for the "if you've done nothing wrong" Con man talking point

yet another tired, baseless "nothing to see here" claim by the 28 percenters can effectively be put to bed regarding Boy King's little "war"... I'd be tired of proving Shrub loyalists wrong if it weren't so utterly satisfying each time....

Former NSA Analyst: NSA ‘Monitored All Communications’ Of Americans

also targeted Journalists»

Last night on MSNBC’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann,” former analyst for the National Security Agency Russell Tice revealed that the NSA had “monitored all communications” of Americans and specifically targeted journalists:
TICE: The National Security Agency had access to all Americans’ communications — faxes, phone calls, and their computer communications. And it didn’t matter whether you were in Kansas, in the middle of the country, and you never made any foreign communications at all. They monitored all communications. […] But an organization that was collected on were U.S. news organizations and reporters and journalists.

OLBERMANN: To what purpose? I mean, is there a file somewhere full of every e-mail sent by all the reporters at the “New York Times?” Is there a recording somewhere of every conversation I had with my little nephew in upstate New York? Is it like that?

TICE: If it was involved in this specific avenue of collection, it would be everything. Yes. It would be everything.
Tice, a major whistleblower who helped reveal President Bush’s warrantless wiretapping program to the New York Times in 2005, also told Olbermann that the agency sought specifically “to be deceptive” to prevent congressional committees from learning more about the program, calling it “a shell game”:

<snip>

In October, two other whistleblowers told ABC News that the NSA “routinely” listened in on Americans’ phone calls and agents would often share “salacious or tantalizing” intercepted calls with each other. All this despite Bush’s frequent protestations that his illegal wiretaping program was “limited,” that it targeted only “a phone call of an al Qaeda, known al Qaeda suspect,” and that he ensured “that our civil liberties of our citizens are treated with respect.”

Good post PC ... but does this mean they monitored JetsInsider also?

Kind of scary ... Big Brother had arrived for sure.
How about all those webcam people? They got their conversations and their pictures. I heard everyones license picture is shared by more than just Uncle Sam. I heard advertisers pay off NSA people to gain info also ... lots of dirty crap going on as the marriage of government, businesses and thugs all merge.

So long as the information is not used in the prosecution of an individual I have no problems with it. Fact is there has not been a single terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11. Someone was doing something right for a change.

The steps Bush took secured us since 9/11 till the end of his Presidency. Not many Americans beleived at the time that we would be successful in preventing another terrosist attack. Hail to the Chief, for he kept us safe.

HMM there wasn't a terrorist attack from 2/93 till 9/11/01 eight years or so,and we didn't have these kind of measures around. Explain that.

That argument doesn't really hold water. The growth of terrorists and hard core Muslims pimping Islam for the disenfranchised was synonymous with the growth of the internet. I said this 6 years ago after we were attacked and I say it today. The information age allowed terrorists to expand their base around the globe. It was so much easier for them to seek and find those who had little to live for and decided to devote their lives to a cause // or rather a god that was supposedly sympathetic to the ppor and destitute.

A peace loving religion was changed for a political cause ... much of it funded by the very oil we are addicted to. Much of this movement was funded straight out of Saudi Arabia ... our supposed allies. America can easily see how un-orthodox or un-strict for lack of a better term Islam is in Saudi Arabia compared to say Iran. Saudi Arabia used the differences ... (very slight) between the Sunni and the Shia to hold their very ally America in check in the Middle East. Recently ... experts have discovered there are many hidden ties between the Sunni and the Shia in the elite power circles. many ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran (Sunni & Shia) that were covered up by the Bush administration ... many ... many ... many.

A lot of Sunni and Shia killing each other ... brother Muslims for the sake of a ahate that does not exist at the upper levels of power. Anyways ... I'm getting off target ... these people knew they could use the internet and the killing and hate even in a religion and towards America to use the poor and devout Muslims who needed money to build their terroist networks.

You forget the first WTC attack I take it. Thanks for playing. BTW the cluster****** in Mogadishu, the lack response to Khobar Towers the Cole bombing and so on convinced OBL that WTC 2 was possible without severe consequences for Al Queda.
