U.S. President-elect Barack Obama on Wednesday called for unity among Americans to share the burden of the economic crisis and strive for a better future.
Do you remember about Obama's promise to tax 'rich' people during his campaign?
What did he mean when he said "share the burden"? Does it mean that the 'poor' Joe will be taxed?

it's difficult for you to accept it. If the media in US does a good job at covering Obama, i don't have to go to China to find Obama's news.
If foxnews and chinese media are not a good source for Obama news, CNN is?
Chinese news, why don't you find the info in their archives about Tiananmen Square.. they did a great job with that news story. The truth and the Chinese News are not exactly synanomous..

when you look in China, what do you see? communist and socialist. Yes?
when you look at Obama, what do you see? 'socialist' or 'democrat'? there is not a definite answer for this question.
According to your standard, it's only a good source if it says good things about Obama.

Well let's see, NEP.
If all Americans shoulder the burden, and he means the rich need to shoulder more of the burden, then you'll say he's a communist.
If all Americans shoulder the burden, and he means the rich will not need to shoulder more of the burden, you will conclude that he's a hypocrite who has betrayed his ideals.
As he has never proposed a tax or other policy that called on us to ignore said burden, this would seem consistent with his policies as formally detailed.
By the way, is the "poor Joe" you are talking about someone actually named Joe, or do you mean Sam? Because Sam Wurtelbacher WANTED the poor taxed more by continuing tax cuts to the wealthy (which he claimed to be.)
If all Americans shoulder the burden, and he means the rich need to shoulder more of the burden, then you'll say he's a communist.

Perhaps the President-elect has learned the lesson of history that raising taxes (especially on the wealthy)in the midst of a severe recession is one sure way to turn it into a depression (See Hoover,H.) I was never an Obama supporter ( and my posts back me up) but I will give him the opportunity to see how he does. If he is learning and modifying his positions to govern from the center (which it seems from appointments and comments to date) I will feel a lot more comfortable.
I am not going to criticize him for changing his position to one that I thought was right in the first place.

Welp, ya know, I'll take that. I'm glad if the far left lets this presidency be for a little while, and the ax-grinders on the right give it some time as well.
He's always run as a pragmatist. My understanding is he's also backtracking somewhat on what McCain always called "redistributionist" tax policy. I disagree with this decision, and I am sure I disagree with you on that particular argument. But I'm certainly open to "wait and see" attitudes; it is, for the most part, my own attitude, as it was even with George II. George did not treat that public trust with respect, and so he lost mine. I also disagree with the policies he embraced.
I'm sensitive to that whole "trust" issue which is so often thrown around, but to me it's not about whether a guy can be trusted with his interns. It's about how he comports himself vis a vis the public as regards his own policy agenda. To my eye Obama seems committed to an honest, realistic and serious approach to issues. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's not because people are crying about where he was born or something... we'll see a red flag if and when there actually is one quite clearly.
