Default Obama's Speech

I haven't seen much commentary, so I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to our members thoughts regarding Obama's acceptance speech.

Personally, I was moved more than anything I've heard from him before. I've always thought he was "good", but he's never reached me emotionally. I thought he was charasmatic and had presidential confidence about him, but I didn't think he had "it".

That all changed for me tonight. He reached inside me and had me hanging on every word he spoke. I loved how he talked about "reaching out to those whose support he had not yet earned" and especially the story of the 106 year old woman from Georgia.

And I will admit shedding more than a few tears tonight which I did not expect. I loved seeing Jesse Jackson with tears streaming down his cheeks.

I have never felt this emotional over a presidential election in my life. I loved every minute of it. I'd love to hear other members thoughts on this.

I’ll have to get back to you. There is so much I want to say, but I still can’t believe we did it.

one other thing I forgot to mention that got me all choked up was that CNN had camera's in Kenya. I guess that's where Obama's dad was from. Anyway, it showed people going crazy about Obama getting elected.

It made me think about how America was on stage tonight and what an awesome display of America it was for the world to see. What an example we set in a time of world recession and diminishing hope.

I never thought he would be elected, remember the desegration efforts and violence in the early 60's.. Selma, Birmingham, Montgomery, Little Rock, Medger Evers, U of Miss.. walked in civil rights marches in South Providence.. never believed I would see the day that anyone except white haired insiders would be in the White House.. well this is a truly great day and one I will cherish for the rest of my life.

The acceptance speech was inspirational, healing and spot on.. I hope he can do what needs to be done, and no one pulls a JFK, MLK or RFK on him..
