Is this a nod to "Dazed and Confused" or just a coincidence?
Anyway, I'm happy about the turnout on the questions today. I voted yes on all 3, with the yes on 1 being largely symbolic. A big reason to be against question 1 was that there was no tie in to reduction in spending, so the gov't would just have found other ways to take revenue.
Good times on question 2, why waste the resources on arresting and dragging these people to court instead just have them pay a fine. It makes it a net gain of money for the state (fine dollars coming in instead of funds spent on arrests/court proceedings), and starts removing the stigma from a drug that is IMO no worse than alcohol, and definitely no worse than the prescription meds routinely given out to calm people down.
As for #3 there was more to it for me than just liking dogs. We adopted a greyhound when I was younger and from seeing ours and talking with other owners they exhibit some behaviors that point to their mistreatment (nervous behavior, fear of humans especially men, the fact that they learned to sleep with all 4 paws up in the air because their pens were too small to stretch out in, etc.) I'm glad its done with here, let's go ahead and replace the dog tracks with some casino gambling, probably a lot more money for the state than what the tracks brought in. Everybody likes bright flashing lights and blackjack!
