If this holds up, it's great news. Obama will fllow in the footsteps of Roosevelt and Kennedy, and he'll have a Democratic Congress to work with. I'm hopeful, but I ain't opening the champagne yet.

Based on all my posts you know all I care about is that the lefty radical in him is gone. It's not uncommon for young people to be way left or way right or way somewhere. If he governs somewhere around left of center I will survive. Even a tad left of that won't be too bad.

Yes, I know that about you. I must admit Italian-Americans, which I think you are, seem to have the most complicated political points of view! My b-in-law, who supports Obama, is the same way. He's a liberal conservative, like you like.

Congratulations to the Obama supporters.

As long as Obama extends the Bush tax cuts for middle class families, I
can live with him.

Wildo provided the following link (thanks again) which contradicted
previous reports I had seen. This link looks more legit than the others
I had seen.

Taxes under Obama and McCain

the plans
Senator McCain would permanently extend all
of the income tax cuts enacted by President
Bush. Senator Obama extends almost all of the
income tax cuts except those that apply to highincome
households:
he would raise the top two
income tax rates, currently 33 and 35 percent, to
their Clinton-era levels of 36 and 39.6 percent;
restrict the value of exemptions and deductions
for high-income households; and raise the top tax
rate on dividends and capital gains to 20 percent
from 15 percent. Both candidates would limit but
not repeal the alternative minimum tax (AMT).

I didn't like either candidate, so I didn't vote for either. I didn't buy into anything either one of them said. McCain had no shot to win, IMO. Bush made sure of that. The Democrats have all the power now. Let's all hope for our sakes that they do a good job.
If they don't, well, I guess that I'll have to start looking outside of the US for sanity.

Congratulations to Obama! I hope that you do a good job.
