Default Voting thread for 11/04/08

Voted this AM @ 6:33 AM out here in Rural RI, was the 78th voter in that district.. so that is a pretty good turn out initially.. no lines, right in and right out.

I voted!!!

Had a little bit of an issue with my name, they couldn't find me, and I instantlly thought becuase I voted for Ron Paul, i was "removed" from the offical liust, but they but a space in McGraw, so I was listed under Mc Graw.

Voted for Obama, in the end, I really am a libertarian, but I couldn't vote for Bob Barr, I can't vote for someone who historically voted against libertarian ideas, and just because he wanted to be a president instantlly became a libertarian...

I voted here in CT. We recently switched from the old-fashioned lever machines to optical scan ballots. While I miss the "formality" of the old booths, I like the new method a lot--no worries about touchscreens, and obviously there's a paper record available to check accuracy.

It also helped that, despite the fact that I was almost the 1,000th voter at my polling place (opened at 6, I got there at 8), I was in and out in less than 10 minutes.

I voted twice this morning, I'm going back again around 3PM.

Democrats on the Island are going around all through the woods and taking names off the old grave stones then using them to vote.

GOD DAMN AMERICA

I did it by absentee here in New Hampshire. I didn't want to wait in the lines or interrupt my MMA training. Priorities, priorities.

Stood in line for about 45 minutes here in the DC suburbs. Line moved swiftly. Big props to the poll workers - very efficient.

This was definitely the biggest turnout we've seen at our local school in the 10 years we've lived here. We brought our 8 and 4 year olds with us - - they had a blast and behaved themselves admirably - - we brought some books/activities for them during the wait. The 8 year old is particularly interested in the whole process and we promised him he could stay up as late as he wants tonight to watch this historic (whichever way it goes) night.

Funny 21st Century note: I brought our 8 year old in the booth with me and told him he could touch the screen at the end to hit the "Submit" click. He got all nervous and said "I don't think I should do that - - there could be cameras in the ceiling and your vote might not get counted".

I got to my polling place about 9 and the line was out the door and around to almost the back of the building. So I went to breakfast. I came back at 10 and the line was much more manageable. I found out afterward that it was those gomers over in ward 21 that had everything all fouled up. The line for ward 22 never got longer than about 5 people.
