I don't know how you got so soured on God, but you should read Swedenborg. It is not religious, there is no creed or belief stuff in it. Just an account of his experiences with the spirit world. Other good sources are Carl Wickland and Anthony Borgia's "Life in the World Unseen". All are excellent.
