Fair enough. If it was my call, I'd tax pretty much everything. I believe in big government moreso than even many in my own party (at least more than they're willing to admit on the campaign trail). In the current political narrative, I guess that makes me a socialist, which I wasn't aware of (since I never got invited to any of the meetings) until Sarah Palin let me know .
Sarah Palin is a moron and taxed oil companies to give back to the people $1200 for each citizen. thus she was a socialist!!!!
I don't believe in taxing everything. or if you are going to do that then get rid of income tax thus every other tax is by choice.
we need less government. especially making stupid decisions like the big dig. doing that project was like fitting 50 clowns in a telephone booth. it's not cost effective and we'll be paying for that long after we're dead

If we could rid gov't of waste & cronyism and knew that every elected official was 100% honest, we could actually lower taxes AND get more gov't services.
Too bad that will never happen. Unfortunately, it is my opinion that the bigger gov't gets, the more waste and cronyism there is. So why EVER increase taxes?
I wouldn't. I actually cheated in voting in this poll since I no longer live in MA, but my brother does and is voting "no", so I suppose my poll vote counts for him.
Count me among those who thinks taxes are a good thing, as long as they're spent responsibly by the government. And I trust the government to do that, which I guess makes me a pretty standard liberal.
I live in DC so I walk by the IRS building (which is just off the National Mall) quite often. On the building is inscribed the following quote from Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes: “Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society.” That pretty much sums up my feeling on the matter.
OMFG did someone not named Patters just type that? Society is totally doomed.

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him." I've read the posts, I just happen to disagree. I know this is an extreme example, but unless people are going to go out and pave their own roads or put out their own fires, I have to believe that the Government does SOME good with our tax dollars. This is also my political leanings talking, so I realize that there is room for disagreement, but I trust Democrats significantly more to spend my tax dollars on things that matter to me. Others' values certainly differ, which is fine. I can see both sides of it.
Seriously, are you that naive? Do you honestly think the roads won't get paved? Does NH pave it's roads? Wow, people are really naive in this country. NH not only is income tax free, it's SALES tax free also. Last I checked they're operational.

So where and how do they replace this money ... extra taxes on the Kennedy compound?
Seriously ... what goes up booze tax, cig tax, tolls, gasoline tax ... i find it hard to believe they don't need or don't want to need the money. So ... does this favor the wealthy over the unwealthy and will it bring more wealth to the state as it does in florida?
Maybe Auntie Freeloader could give up her tax payer subsidized apartment for starters. The Waltham tourism Council could stop recieving state funds too. Oh, and the state could stop paying for $100,000 gazebo's in Lowell. Umass Amhert get state funds? Cuz they've got a half dozen profressors making close to $600,000 per.

Yet you're voting NO on question 1. Ya, you just made sense.
