That's my view on an Obama vote.

More money in my pocket. What more needs to be said. And don't bother with all the "they'll throw the old people out on the streets, fire all the police and firemen etc. nonsense. Even if this passes (and I believe it will) it will NEVER be enacted.

I am voting yes. It's all propaganda. I'll tell you why.

They can not raise property taxes. Only propostion 2.5 can do that.

Worcester Telegram & Gazette News

Quote:
If it were passed, he said, he does not believe it would be implemented, because the Legislature could vote to reinstate all or part of the income tax immediately. Mr. Widmer said, however, he doubts it would fully restore the income tax in the face of a popular mandate.

He pointed to the voters’ mandate to roll back the state income tax adopted in 2000 that called for the tax rate to go from 5.95 percent to 5 percent. In that case, he said, the Legislature intervened, eventually rolling it back to 5.3 percent, with the remaining one-third of the rollback still pending.

“I don’t think they would simply overturn it,” Mr. Widmer said of the “legal and political chaos” passage of Question 1 would unleash. “I think when the dust settles there would be some restored revenues, but I have a feeling there would be several months of turmoil,” with massive lawsuits, massive cuts in state spending and intense pressure to increase property taxes to make up for a cutoff of state funds.

Ms. Howell, however, said the question phases out the income-tax over two years and opponents are ignoring all the benefits.

Opponents, Ms. Howell said, “will use the same scare tactics, whether they want to stop a tax cut or lobby for a tax increase. It’s always the same cries and screams and lies.” If it were passed, she said, the state would still spend $16,700 for every taxpayer and vast new monies would be diverted into the private sector.

“It will be great for Massachusetts. We will create hundreds and thousands of new jobs. It will put money in people’s pockets to weather these difficult times,” she said, adding that she believes most people favor the income tax elimination. “The question is whether they will come out and vote,” she said.
Don't let anyone hear you say you will vote yes because you'll get an evil look. the governor implimenting these cuts is mighty convenient. it's a scare tactic.. watch them say suddenly because the question was voted no that they suddenly have money.

I don't see the tax getting cut. I see this as a negotiating point for a slight decreased in the income tax. Let's be real. We need to make a statement that taxes need to be cut at least a little but. do tollboth collectors need to be making 50-60k? troopers make obscene money on paid details and the unions getting their kiddie.

So you say you're afraid that they'll jack up other taxes? how? can't do so on property taxes without a vote. sales tax? then make monthly trips to a neighboring state to buy in bulk. how much could they really jack it up? tolls? tolls are ridiculous as they want to jack it up again and people in western mass are paying for the BIG Money Pit.

So I'm voting YES.
