The other day I overheard an office mate say how he hopes the Bradley effect does occur so that Obama is defeated.
Now, whereas he is a staunch conservative, I have no idea whether he's actually racist himself, but he was apparently comfortable with racist causes helping his favored candidate win the election. Personally, I'd be appalled and troubled to learn that my favored candidate only won due to this, or other dubious tactics such as voting fraud, etc.
But my question is, does the fact that he would approve of the Bradley effect to help his favored candidate win make him a racist himself? Or can this be bucketed under the more general lack of ethics so common among the ranks of the GOP, ie the constant parade of dirty tricks and other tactics designed to subvert the voting process?

My brother-in-law made a similar statement. He said that he thinks McCain will win because once the people get inside the voting booth, they would vote for McCain even tho, they may have voiced support for Obama. The main substance of his point was the race issue. He's not racist, tho, I believe he too is wishing for this result.
If Obama is elected, the race issue becomes less of a factor as each election passes.
I would hope that wouldn't happen. I would hope that they take a long look and decide that one party rule, at this point in our history, is very dangerous. We need some divison in government and it looks like the Dems will still control the House and Senate
So I hope that people do not take race into consideration when voting but the fact is that 3-5% may.

I don't think it means he's racist. But definately selfish. He just wants his guy to win and he doesn't care how. But since I don't know the man, who knows?
It's not racist to hope other people are racist. A person is only racist if they, themselves, vote mostly on the basis of skin color (ANY skin color, for or against, btw).
Also giving and supporting someone based on their race, is racsim.
I don't think it is. When Palin was selected, there were many females that jumped on that bandwagon even before she opened her mouth. There were a number of members here who spoke of their spouses voting for that ticket solely based on the Palin choice. How does that equal racism, even tho it is the same thought process. There is a difference in identifying with someone who you have a history with, be it female or ethnicity, and voting against that individual because of pure hatred.
