Things That Make You Go Hmmm

Army combat unit to deploy within U.S. - CNN.com
Quote:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The United States military's Northern Command, formed in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks, is dedicating a combat infantry team to deal with catastrophes in the U.S., including terrorist attacks and natural disasters.
Quote:
Bloggers are criticizing the new force, saying that because it has been training in law enforcement tactics it could be be used for domestic law enforcement.

Quote:
Wikinews recently published an article which explained that NorthComm, through an Executive Order of the President of the United States, directed the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team to return to the United States from active duty missions in Iraq to begin training in a new role. NorthComm says that these troops will be used to protect the United States from threats within the United States, as well as to provide a support role to local and state agencies during times of emergency, such as with Hurricane Katrina.

Critics, however, believe that moving an active military unit back to United States soil represents a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, which makes it illegal for federal military resources to act as law enforcement agencies against civilians. The article included cites from critic Namoi Watts, who based part of her opinion on an interview with retired U.S. Air Force Colonel David Antoon. Ret. Col. Antoon stated that a military coup was already under way through the actions of NorthComm, and that other branches of the government would be powerless.

THIS is why we need Obama, McCain will just escalate these policies by further pandering to right wing hysteria.

I will say this once and I'll make it absolutely clear. "If" our federal gov't ever deployed armed forces to "police" the populace, they would guarantee themselves a revolution. That would unite liberals and conservatives into a force that would be beyond our government's worst nightmare.

Bet on it.

I've lived on the Cape and in Texas, and have heard guys from these two distances so far away in both miles and politics, say, I have guns that they (government) will never find and I'll use them.

I think what it will come down to for ALL Americans is that we will give up our constitutional rights only over our dead bodies.

I keep saying this over & over, but it's so important that we all realize and believe it....

We "the people" are the bosses in this country, NOT our government.

We need to start acting as if we're running things or "they" will try to take away our constitution.
