Romney headlining a ticket, with Palin as VP, would have been a real ticket with some teeth. Romney appealing to moderates & independents with his executive experience, and percieved economic sense, with Palin energizing the base, that would otherwise never show up for a Mormon candidate. Also, Palin's pro-life, pro-gun stance would diminish any concerns non-mormon fearing base conservatives might have regarding the Varmint hunter. It would have been interesting. Clearly, Romney is a more prepared person to be CIC than McCain has presented himself to be. IMO anyway. The problem for McCain is that picking Romney would not have energized base republicans, as Palin has. People in here still ignore the "balancing" that Palin does for McCain. Her job is to attack, and to get the base fired up. McCain simply doesn't do either.
