Gwen Ifill is writing a book on rising African American leaders.

Gwen Ifill is NOT writing a book on Barack Obama.

Since Barack Obama is one member of the set "Rising Black Leaders", he will be among the subjects of Gwen Ifill's book.

Reports are that Ifill is, in fact, positive toward African Americans participating in the political sphere.

If you believe that only those who are universally against African Americans fully participating in politics can be considered unbiased, you may call this "bias". While you're at it, you may call Apartheid "fair and balanced."

She has a giant FINANCIAL investment in an Obama victory, plain and simple. The fact that she did not disclose this, and accepted the moderator's job, SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT HER CHARECTER (or lack thereof). IF SHE THOUGHT IT WAS NBD, THEN SHE WOULD HAVE DISCLOSED IT!!!

Unfortunatley finding an unbias journalist, is about an easy a task, as getting a Yankees playoff ticket this year!

Your posts are generally poignant but I have to ask you if you're sore right now after the gymnastics you went through to make that "point" While I think it's not possible for anyone to remove all bias, I think it's fair to say that in this case extra bias it's at least arguable. The title does call for it.

Can Ifill do a great job moderating this debate ... I say yes.
Should she have informed the debate organizers about the book ... absolutely.
I find it hard to believe anyone moderating a debate can be totally unbiased, but I'll give Ifill the benefit of the doubt for now.

There is no such thing as an unbiased reporter. The trick is not to show any bias. That is the key. I think she will do fine. McCain feels the same.
