Do you think people are shopping/consuming/dining now as we speak?
what precentage actually cares about what is going on?
heck what percentage of the population actually has a retirement fund(401K)?
you have to think the majority of the population is going to keep on charging things and not change their ways.
we need to take the pain now instead of throwing money to try to solve the situation.

It really is a dangerous situation. I'm sure there are tens of thousands of people who invested on margin and now those margins are being called, and they'll have to sell more and more in order to pay up. We could see a spiral of negative activity over the next few days because of the way the market works.
Thus, I think a lot of people are going to be tightening their belts, which will lead to fewer sales, and more layoffs, which will exacerbate the problem. Government intervention will have to come, but we also might quickly reach a point where it's better to let the dust settle than to intervene. The intervention might be largely in the form of jobs programs and earmarks to get the economy running again.

I feel a bit bad for kids going to college, as their parents sold their future. but they also benefited with living the good life with vacations, a second house, and dance lessons, the nice cars, and overinflated house

it was covered up with more borrowing
the question i ask is.... can a free spending economy that doesn't save much and a coroporate america that gave credit to us freely to prey on our lust for possessions only to collect our dollars in interest..... last forever?
we have a trade defecit because we don't produce much that nations want. go into walmart and see where everything is made. american car companies aren't exactly booming overseas.
how long can the gravy train last? how much money can you print before it doesn't mean much and people lose faith in its value?
if you spend spend spend you eventually need to pay back.

.
People should go to the homes of Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd, and all the rest of the Democrat liars, and protest until they resign. They are a pox on America. All of them are complicit in this economic melt down. Every single one of them. People should all go down to Hyannisport and take over the Kennedy Compound, kick out Teddy onto the street and let him feel what it's like to live like a slave.
These pampered spoiled rotten liberals have all but destroyed America and if they are not all thrown out, they WILL finish their work of destroying America. Throw all the bums out. Each and every one of them.

don't joke around like that. This has awoken some of our citizens. Imagine when things get really bad. I could easily see protests and people extremely angry and who knows what might happen. when people are cornered it brings out the worst in people. what happened to mussolini?
the best thing is for these politicians to fess up and go after the real criminals which are these corporate execs.
more people will awaken when their life is threatened
and i'm talking conservatives and liberals alike

I'm not joking. America's life is threatened now, and the real criminals ARE the Democrats who passed laws that Republicans tried to stop, laws that made it "ILLEGAL" not to give loans to people who could not possibly pay back those loans. THAT'S criminal and it was the Democrat Congresses who forced that legislation through. Now they have to pay for what they did. They cannot pass all their failures onto the American people. They need to pay for their mistakes. Fair is fair. They have been living the high life, now it's judgment day.

And, as for Mussolini, he got what he deserved.
Democrats caused this mess, and they will pay for it. You can bet on it.
